How to buy old and PR domains

For the past few months I’ve been using a tool which I now couldn’t live without. It is called Freshdrop and it is a free tool which lets you easily search for expiring, dropped or domains for sale from a variety of sources including Ebay, TDNAM (Godaddy’s domain market), Sedo and other places.

TDNAM, Ebay and Sedo searches are free, whilst you must become a paying member to access domains from Afternic, Pool, Namejet and Snap.

What is the point of using a tool that only gives you listings that can be found on the original websites you ask? Well, there are many good reasons. You can easily find domains with Pagerank at Freshdrop. If you’ve spent anytime at TDNAM scouring through their thousands of domains, you’ll immediately see how easy Freshdrop is to use in comparison. It lists PR, age, backlinks and other stats for each domain (I still do a fake PR check though as sometimes it can be wrong).

The best place to start if you are new at buying domains on the aftermarket is, in my opinion, the TDNAM Closeouts. Here you will find domains that did not sell in the regular TDNAM auctions and so are selling for the bargain basement price of $5 each (you must also pay for one year registration which increases the total cost when you checkout).

I have found PR4 domains here and 10 year old domains. I’ve also found some very nice 5 letter .com’s and other generic 2 word domains suitable for niche sites. It is well worth a look in as $5 for an old or established domain is peanuts.

Freshdrop lets you apply a variety of filters to your searches including PR scores, domain age, TLD, any particular words you want in the domains, number of characters, excluding characters and more. Basically its just a very easy way to find domains that are being auctioned or sold at a variety of popular sources.

The guy who owns freshdrop.net really only started promoting it on domain forums and it has now got a large following and he is constantly improving the site based on feedback from users.

This is an unbiased review of a service that I believe is one of the best out there for people interested in domain name investment. Check out Freshdrop here.

I know what you mean Sue, it is highly addictive!
I have bought many domains with PR as well as domains that are over 10 years old.
My only tip is to USE the domains you buy and don’t just let them sit there.
